The press secretary for Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra state, Christian Aburime, has stated that his principal stands by his remarks on Peter Obi, a former governor of the state and a candidate for the Labour Party presidency.
In the upcoming presidential election, Soludo had written off the chances of the Labour Party’s nominee and criticized Ndigbo for its campaign tactics. He had earlier stated that he has no regret for not giving his support to Peter Obi. The action elicited conflicting emotions around the nation, but especially on social media, where Soludo faced harsh criticism.
However, on November 17, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state encouraged Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, to disregard jealous detractors, particularly those from his home state of Anambra. This was stated by the governor of Rivers at the opening of the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover in Port Harcourt, the state’s capital. Obi was a special guest of honor during the inauguration, which drew a sizable throng who chanted the LP flag bearer’s name as he stood at the stage to deliver a speech.
