The first Lady of the Federation, Aisha Buhari, has advised the Northern leaders to emulate their south-western counterpart by empowering women as deputy governors. She made this assertion during her reception of the Adamawa All Progressive Congress (APC) leaders at her state house office.
She said that such a move would be a step toward achieving gender inclusion in the political system.
As a native of the state, a mother, a grandmother, and the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, she declared: “I would like to reaffirm my support for the sincere worry of our party leaders, as well as commit to getting involved in the issue so that logic and common sense will win out in Adamawa politics.
“I would want to reiterate my call to respected leaders in the north to learn from their South-west counterparts’ exceptional practice in enthroning women as deputy governors in states as a gradual way to achieving gender inclusiveness in our polity,” I said.
